All candidates below were invited to participate in our process by filling out a candidate questionnaire, which can be found here.

CAPE rates candidates on a 5-star scale based on their positions. You can find an explanation of the ratings and what they mean here.

Please note all candidates who were rated were invited to submit a questionnaire. If any candidates below did not submit a questionnaire, all available public campaign materials - including websites, social media accounts, and news interviews - were used to inform their score.


Bellevue City Council - Position 4

 

Ruth Lipscomb, candidate for Bellevue City Council, has made her mark as a true defender of prosperity for everyone. Lipscomb earned a whopping 4.25 more stars than her opponent by prioritizing the economic needs of ordinary people and rejecting malevolent trickle-down forces.

In Bothell Jenne Alderks has triumphed with a PERFECT SCORE of 5 stars for City Council Position 3! It was clear to us that Jenne understands the trickle-down policies that made our economy so fragile, and has the super-genius we need to rebuild the economy from the middle-out.

 

Bothell City Council - Position 7

 

The people of Bothell can rest easy knowing that City Council candidate Rami Al-Kabra earned a PERFECT 5/5 from us. He’s a civic superhero for his laser-vision-like focus on investing in high-quality public services and infrastructure to create a more inclusive, prosperous city.

In the race for Federal Way City Council Position 2, Greg Baruso earned 4 stars from CAPE for showing he was the candidate most prepared to help lead Federal Way to an equitable recovery by growing the economy from the middle-out.

Renae Seam earned our highest rating in the race for Federal Way Position 6. She showed us she knows what the pre-existing economic conditions were that caused the crisis of the last year, and understands that people and working families are the true job creators of Federal Way.

Renton City Council - Position 1

Joe Todd is on a mission to take the city back from what he calls the “old guard” of trickle-downers. He knows people are the real job creators, and he's fresh for the fight to create a more inclusive and prosperous future. He's the hero Renton needs in Position 1.

Renton, the shining metropolis at the southmost point of Lake Washington, needs a future-forward champion like Carmen River on its City Council to point the way to a more prosperous, inclusive tomorrow. She earns our highest rating for City Council Position 2.

 

SeaTac City Council - Position 3

Jake earned our PERFECT SCORE for running to shift city priorities away from just attracting more corporate development, hotels and parking lots to SeaTac and instead investing in what really drives SeaTac's economy - it's people, particularly families of color and POC-owned small businesses who have been left behind in our recovery

 

SeaTac City Council - Position 4

Mohamed Egal is running to take SeaTac back from wealthy trickle-down interests. Mohammed knows low wages and high housing, childcare, and healthcare costs were pre-existing conditions that primed SeaTac for the economic crisis and to fully recover, we have to invest in affordable, high-quality services, so everyone can participate in the economy.

Rounding out our SeaTac A-Team of civic superheroes is Iris Guzman for SeaTac City Council Position 6. Iris told us she's tired of watching council prioritize wealthy big biz interests over working families—the REAL job creators in our economy. She's running to create a more equitable, prosperous future for SeaTac.

 

Seattle City Council - District 9

 

The People’s Champ wins our highest rating in D9 because they know it’s people—not the rich & corporations—who make Seattle. Nikkita Oliver earned their superhero name by never tiring in their fight for including more people—in our communities, in our politics, & in our economy.

Nicole Thomas-Kennedy earned a PERFECT SCORE by being the only candidate for Seattle City Attorney who's ready to fight for economic justice on Day One. She'll come out swinging for an inclusive city, and understands the more people who participate in our economy, the more we all prosper.

 

Spokane City Council - District 1, Position 2

Spokane City Council - District 3, Position 2

 

Zack Zappone's name has the alliterative lilt of a secret identity, but trust us—this candidate for Spokane City Council District 3 Position 2 is all superhero. He earned our PERFECT SCORE by proving that he’ll fight to grow Spokane’s economy from the middle-out, not let the Lilac City become the next playground for the super-rich.
